It’s my pleasure to announce that Algeria has become official members of the International Street and Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF), this will greatly help the development of ice hockey in Algeria while we only have one ice rink.

The variation of ice hockey played on shoes, allows the sport to be far more accessible to people in Algeria, while allowing them to learn the fundamental skills of ice hockey.

I was sceptical about ball hockey, but I’ve been playing it for the last month or so and it’s actually a lot of fun and a great work out, and does use a lot of the same skills used on ice.

I feel like ball hockey and roller hockey could become popular in Algeria, we have a good amount basketball courts, handball courts and outdoor asphalt pitches that it can be played on, and the rules are very straight forward – a stick, a ball, pass, shoot, score a goal.

I’d love to have some summer outdoor hockey sessions in the sun, by the beach with a nice sea breeze.
